Erlangen, Germany – September 21, 2020 – Corteva Agriscience is delighted to announce that Team Trelleborg have won the Farming Simulator League Final.
The Trelleborg Team were named champions and awarded a €30,000 prize after beating Team Grimme during a nail-biting match in Erlangen, Germany, this weekend.
Corteva has been the lead sponsor of the agricultural video game developed by Giants Software, which has attracted millions of virtual farmers in simulating the real-life operations and economics of managing a farm.
There have been 12 eSports tournaments played online and offline across Europe since the start of the League last year, with players able to purchase Corteva’s Pioneer® brand seeds and crop protection products for use on the in-game farms.
Monica Sorribas, Marketing Leader, Europe, said: “Congratulations to Team Trelleborg for their well-earned victory! On the field and in the game, we strive to spark enthusiasm for the next generation of farming. From gamers who love farming to future farmers that love gaming, the Farming Simulator League has been a great opportunity to interact with the younger generation.
“And the placement of our products in the game allows us to introduce players to advanced farming principles and techniques, from preparing soil and selecting seeds and crop protection, to cultivating crops and eventually bringing their produce to market.”
Corteva’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy includes 14 goals to be achieved over the next 10 years, based around four key pillars: Goals to benefit farmers; Goals to benefit the land; Goals to benefit communities – including a commitment to enable youth – and Goals for the company's operations.
Ms. Sorribas added: “The Farming Simulator partnership is one of several concrete initiatives that Corteva has undertaken to engage young people and make our sustainability vision a reality, enriching lives now and for generations to come.”
