Herbicide solutions

Herbicide solutions
Accent®

Accent is a grass and broad-leaved weed herbicide for use in forage maize, which contains nicrosulfuron, a sulfonylurea. It mainly works by contact action, and is most effective when applied whilst the weeds are small and actively growing.

Key benefits:

  • Can be applied from GS12-GS18 (two-leaf stage up to and including the eight-leaf stage), optimum timing GS14-GS16 for maximum weed control.
  • Controls the major grass weeds in maize including annual meadow-grass and couch grass and good efficacy on a broad spectrum of broad-leaved weeds.
  • Accent is physically compatible with a range of herbicides, including Leystar.
  • Following crops: winter wheat and barley can be drilled after ploughing.

Dragster®

A post-emergence sulfonylurea herbicide containing rimsulfuron and thifensulfuron-methyl for use in both forage and grain maize for the control of a wide range of grass and broad-leaved weeds.

Key benefits:

  • Exceptional crop safety.
  • Excellent flexibility when tank-mixed with other herbicides for problem weeds.
  • Contains isoxadifen, a safener that ensures that product is safe to the crop, but not the weed.
  • Can be tank-mixed with Starane Hi-Load for increased activity on weeds.
  • Contact-acting herbicide, therefore weeds need to be small, actively growing, and not suffering from stress.
  • To be applied with an adjuvant, 95% w/w rapeseed oil or Vivolt.

Kinsidro® Grow+

Kinsidro Grow+ is a metabolic biostimulant, bonded with essential macro and micro-nutrients for use in maize. It contains humic and fulvic acid which drives the biologicla activity in the plant.

Key benefits:

  • Kinsidro Grow+ is recovered from natural sustainable sources and has a favourable carbon footprint.
  • This formulation influences cell division and growth, stimulating roots, shoots, and leaf growth.
  • Applied at only 150 g/ha, it has been shown to improve both fresh weight and dry matter yields in maize.
  • Can be applied between 2-6 true leaves (GS12-16), ideal timing for mixing with maize herbicides.

Leystar®

Leystar is a selective forage maize herbicide controlling a wide range of broad-leaved weeds. It contains the actives clopyralid, florasulam, and fluroxypyr.

Key benefits:

  • Three actives delivering effective translocation and excellent weed control.
  • Controls key weeds such as chickweed, mayweeds, cleavers, and thistles.
  • Ideal for mixing with a range of products containing nicosulfuron for extra grass weed control.
  • Mixing with nicosulfuron also brings control of fat hen and cranesbill, and also improves the control of bindweeds, fumitory, groundsel, nightshade, and redshank.

Principal® Forte

Principal Forte is a post-emergence herbicide for both forage and grain maize, for the control of a wide range of grass and broad-leaved weeds. A complete solution containing three active ingredients, nicosulfuron and rimsulfuron (sulfonylureas) and dicamba, and is a contact-acting herbicide.

Key benefits:

  • Exceptional crop safety.
  • Containing isoxadifen safener which is safe to the crop, but not the weed.
  • Few following crop restrictions.
  • Can be tank-mixed with a range of other maize herbicides including Starane Hi-Load.
  • To be mixed with an approved adjuvant that is classified as 95% w/w rapeseed oil or Vivolt.

Starane® Hi-Load

Starane Hi-Load is a selective herbicide for use in forage maize, for the control of a wide range of annual weeds. The only fluroxypyr brand with an approval for tank-mixing in maize.

Key benefits:

  • Controls a range of broad-leaved weeds, including cleavers and polygonums.
  • Improves weed control when mixed with Dragster or Principal Forte to include bindweed, knotgrass, nightsade, hemp-nettle, docks, and volunteer potatoes.
  • No following crop restrictions.
  • No known resistance to any target weed species.

Biological solutions

BlueN™

BlueN is a novel nutrient efficiency biostimulant for use in maize. It contains Methylobacterium symbioticum, a bacterium found in nature that fixes atmospheric nitrogen for use by the plant. BlueN provides a crop with an additional, unique way to capture nitrogen throughout the season, helping reach the yield potential of the crop.

Key benefits:

  • BlueN provides an alternative source of nitrogen that reduces dependency of nitrogen uptake from the soil.
  • It supplies nitrogen throughout the crop cycle in an effective and controlled way.
  • BlueN converts atmospheric N2 into ammonium, which can be used by the plant.
  • Once BlueN has colonised the maize plant, on average it can deliver the equivalent of ~2-3kg/ha of applied nitrogen to the crop per week.
  • Verified for use by organic growers.

Nitrogen stabilisers

Instinct®

Instinct improves crop performance and sustainability through better nitrogen management, maximising yield and minimising nitrogen losses.

Key benefits:

  • Optimises yield potential of maize fertilised with ammonium-containing fertilisers, ensuring more ammonium stays in the soil for longer.
  • Reduces escape of nitrogen into the environment.
  • Compatible with a range of maize herbicides.
  • Growers will benefit from:
    • At least eight more weeks of nitrogen availability in the soil.
    • 50% less greenhouse gas emissions.
    • 45% less nitrogen leaching.
    • 28% greater nitrogen in soil retention.
    • Optimised nitrogen use.
    • Improved root structure.
