Founded in 1926, Pioneer was the first to produce hybrid corn at scale. Just two decades later, the company took root in Canada, establishing early operations near Tilbury, Ontario, beginning a partnership with Canadian growers that continues today. Over the decades that followed, Pioneer deepened its Canadian commitment, expanding production in Chatham, Ontario and establishing research programs from Quebec to the Prairies.

What began in Southwestern Ontario with some of the country’s first hybrid corn acres, has grown into a national story of innovation. Pioneer introduced genetics that improved yield stability in Eastern Canada, expanded into soybeans and cereals, and helped define new performance benchmarks as it moved west into the Prairie canola landscape.
