Can you tell us a little about your background and what led you to join Corteva?
My career hasn’t followed a straight line. I began working in my native homeland, South Africa, before moving to the UK in 2003.
Over the years, I’ve worked across advertising, media, communications, integrated marketing, global events and, since 2014, agriculture, for both country‑level and global organisations. On the surface, these industries and roles may seem very different, but the skills that really matter travel with you. I’ve always been drawn to roles that sit at the intersection of people, ideas and delivery.
I joined Corteva Agriscience because of its clear purpose and its connection to something that genuinely matters. Agriculture plays a vital role in feeding a growing world, and I was excited by the opportunity to continue developing my career in the sector.
How do you stay up to date with advancements and trends in agriculture?
I'm learning every day! Understanding our customers and working closely with colleagues is essential, and I ask lots of questions along the way! I also enjoy absorbing news and insights through the channels I follow, as well as by attending events. I learn a huge amount from the people around me - our technical experts, area managers, scientists and farmers. Listening to their experiences keeps my thinking grounded and ensures our communications remain practical and relevant. Curiosity is key in agriculture, a sector that is constantly evolving.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to follow a similar career path as you?
First, don’t hold back on ideas. You don’t need everything perfectly formed before you speak up.
Second, put the work in and stay curious. Progress comes from consistently showing up, trying new things, and learning quickly - both from the work you produce and through measurement. Be open to feedback. Success, I believe, comes from effort, collaboration and a willingness to keep improving.
Finally, surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you. Careers are rarely linear, and growth often comes from unexpected directions. The ability to think critically, frame ideas well and work effectively with different stakeholders will serve you in any industry.
“Work hard, stay curious, share your ideas, and don’t wait to feel ‘ready’.
The industry may change, but those principles will always travel with you.”
From your perspective, what sets Corteva apart from other companies in the industry?
What sets Corteva apart for me is the people and the culture. There’s a real sense of shared purpose and I genuinely enjoy how we work together to achieve it. Being surrounded by passionate, knowledgeable colleagues - all focused on supporting farmers - makes the work feel meaningful and rewarding.
Would you recommend Corteva as a place to work?
Absolutely. Corteva is a place where people are encouraged to learn, contribute and grow. Everyone is busy, but there’s a real sense of teamwork - people step up, collaborate, act with integrity and support one another to succeed. There’s also a strong and ongoing focus on employee wellbeing and safety, alongside some great perks we all benefit from. And at our Melbourn HQ, the coffee is very good!
This International Women’s Day, what action has made the biggest difference to you in your career?
For me, the biggest difference has come from putting the work in, staying curious and not holding back on ideas. I’ve learned that progress often comes from contributing, even when ideas aren’t fully formed, and being willing to learn quickly along the way. I’ve also been fortunate to work with phenomenal women in leadership throughout my career, who acted as cheerleaders offering encouragement and that extra boost of confidence when it was needed.
I don’t believe any of us are finished articles. The combination of hard work, learning, and support has shaped how I approach my career, and how I try to support others in return.
Outside of work, where are we most likely to find you?
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me with my husband and sons, and, when I can, enjoying time with my girlfriends. I’m always chasing moments that make me laugh - often outdoors, travelling, or anywhere with a great sunset.
