Experts with Corteva Agriscience deliver the details about Kyber^® Pro herbicide

Soybean farmers require weed control solutions that enable them to be more efficient and achieve cleaner fields while mitigating weed resistance. Using products with multiple modes of action (MOA) and long-lasting residuals is the key to a successful weed control program.

Kyber Pro herbicide equips farmers with three MOA, including a Group 15 active ingredient, for broad-spectrum control of tough weeds. Brad Burkhart, Corteva Agriscience, said using products with multiple MOA enables farmers to not only achieve clean fields but also allows them to overcome weed resistance issues.

“We know using a single mode of action is not a really good strategy for overcoming weed resistance,” Burkhart said. “If we use multiple effective modes of action, it does the best thing we can do to keep those weeds guessing and helps us for weed resistance in the future. Kyber Pro is a really effective tool when you look at combating weed resistance because it has three effective modes of action that are built into the premix.”

Because of the unique combination of metribuzin (Group 5), flumioxazin (Group 14) and pyroxasulfone (Group 15), Kyber Pro herbicide is effective against hard-to-manage weeds like ALS-resistant waterhemp, kochia and marestail as well as PPO-resistant waterhemp and Palmer amaranth — helping farmers tackle weed issues and yield drag. 

Preemergence herbicide applications help farmers lay down the foundation for clean fields all season long. Not only does Kyber Pro herbicide set fields up for success with early season weed control, but the herbicide also widens the window for postemergence herbicide applications for cleaner fields further into the season. Joe Bolte, Corteva Agriscience, explained that knocking weeds down early will make in-season applications easier. 

“If we have a good preemerge application, we’re going to have fewer weeds to control when we get to the post trip,” Bolte said. “Ultimately, that’s going to make our post trip more successful because we’re trying to clean up fewer weeds.” 

Grant Harms, Corteva Agriscience, recommended farmers consider Kyber Pro herbicide as a foundational herbicide because it offers up to six weeks of residual control — allowing farmers to establish strong control of weeds early in the season and extending that control for improved in-season management. Additionally, powerful results from preemergence applications of Kyber Pro herbicide help farmers mitigate yield loss by eliminating competition for resources. 

“Whenever you can get ahead of weeds with a powerful preemergence residual chemistry program, you’re going to end up winning in the long run,” Harms said. “Whether it’s two to three weeks of residual time with those chemistries, it really allows you to come back in-crop with a strong post application and kill those weeds when they’re small versus the alternative.”

Using a two-pass herbicide system that includes a pre- and postemergence application can provide farmers with season-long weed control for improved field health and yield potential. Jason Gibson, Corteva Agriscience, said farmers should start off with a strong preemergence such as Kyber® Pro herbicide. With Enlist E3® soybeans,Gibson recommended farmers start with a preemergence application of Kyber Pro herbicide then make a postemergence application that includes Enlist One^® herbicide tank-mixed with herbicides with additional modes of action and residual activity. Together, this two-pass system sets farmers up for successful season-long weed control.

“You always want to make sure that your pre- and your postemergence program are working in concert with each other,” Gibson said. “Kyber Pro herbicide is going to be excellent, controlling the bulk of that preemerge. And then what little comes up after the treatment [on Enlist E3 soybeans], we can pick up with that Enlist One herbicide.”

Ron Geis, Corteva Agriscience, said farmers have been able to put Kyber Pro herbicide to the test after it launched in 2025. Geis emphasized farmers prefer the ease of use and effectiveness of the soybean herbicide. In some events, Geis said, farmers even saw more than six weeks of residual control in ideal conditions — giving them the flexibility to navigate seasonal challenges on the fly and keeping them interested in the herbicide. 

“What excites me most about Kyber Pro herbicide is the customers that used it; they want to come back to it because it performed well,” Geis said. “It gave them long-lasting control, and it gave them control over their postemerge application that they could spray on their schedule and not let the weeds dictate when it was time to go back into those fields.”
