Essential crop protection products for success in 2027

Maximizing yield and profitability requires a comprehensive approach to crop protection. Using effective herbicides that combat pesky weeds, along with fungicides and nitrogen stabilizers that safeguard investments, can help farmers get the most out of every acre.

Scott Pringnitz, Corteva Agriscience technical field agronomist, advises farmers to use a complete crop protection program each season.

“Using a crop protection plan that includes herbicides, fungicides and nitrogen stabilizers helps ensure fields reach their full potential,” Pringnitz said. “I encourage farmers to work with their Corteva rep to fine-tune their crop protection plans, setting a strong foundation to maximize yields in 2027.”

Corteva offers a complete lineup of corn and soybean herbicides, providing the flexibility needed to build a crop protection program tailored to a farmer’s unique needs. By leveraging multiple modes of action and extended residual control, growers can manage even the most stubborn weeds and help limit herbicide resistance. This approach sets the stage for strong, healthy crops throughout the growing season.

Defend corn yield

Corteva corn herbicides offer reliable weed control at every stage, from preplant through postemergence. With these comprehensive solutions, growers can confidently protect their fields to help support maximum yield potential.

  • Kyro® herbicide: A novel postemergence corn herbicide that provides three modes of action for both contact and residual control of broadleaf and grass weeds. Farmers can implement the premix solution in a two-pass program for either traited or conventional corn up to 24 inches in height.
  • Resicore® REV herbicide: A flexible premix that can be used as both a pre- and postemergence herbicide. Resicore REV contains three proven active ingredients and modes of action for superior control of the toughest broadleaf and grass weeds.

Bolster soybean protection

Each season presents different weed pressures for soybean growers. The wide range of soybean herbicides from Corteva equips farmers to handle those challenges with flexible application methods, proven performance against resistant weeds and longer application windows.

  • Kyber® Pro herbicide: A premium, preemergence soybean herbicide containing three effective modes of action with broad-spectrum control of resistant broadleaf and grass weeds. This herbicide delivers long-lasting residual activity to widen the postemergence application window.
  • Sonic® Boom herbicide: A premix preemergence soybean herbicide featuring a unique combination of metribuzin and sulfentrazone to provide residual control of broadleaf weeds.
  • Enversa® herbicide: A long-lasting residual herbicide that offers tank-mix flexibility, especially postemergence with Enlist One® herbicide for Enlist E3® soybeans. Enversa is the first Corteva soybean herbicide to include a proprietary formulation of encapsulated acetochlor to handle some of the hardest-to-control broadleaf and grass weeds.
  • Enclosa™ herbicide: A soybean residual herbicide that can be applied from preplant through postemergence while providing flexible tank-mix compatibility. Available beginning with the 2027 growing season, the new herbicide contains two modes of action: a proprietary encapsulated acetochlor (Group 15) and cloransulam (Group 2). When applied preemergence, Enclosa provides residual control of broadleaf and grass weeds before they emerge. At postemergence, Enclosa controls select broadleaf weeds while establishing a residual barrier to help prevent future weed emergence.

Tackle disease management

A wide variety of diseases influence crops based on many variables such as moisture, region and previous crops grown. An established fungicide treatment can limit the impact of these diseases.

  • Forcivo™ fungicide: Three overlapping modes of action – including a novel SDHI – help provide fungicide protection in a variety of crops. Forcivo controls foliar diseases such as tar spot, southern rust and frogeye leaf spot with up to 30 days of residual activity.
  • Aproach® Prima fungicide: Two active ingredients, picoxystrobin and cyproconazole, provide reliable disease control in corn and soybeans. Aproach Prima penetrates plant tissue quickly to protect crop health and prevent new infections.

Nutrient management support

Fertilizer is one of the more costly inputs farmers purchase each year. Using a nitrogen stabilizer helps protect fertilizer investments by limiting nutrient loss and improving overall nutrient efficiency.

“Up to 70% of nitrogen loss occurs underground,” Pringnitz said. “Both nitrogen stabilizers can be used underground with fertilizer to help limit those losses.”
