Women, Diversity and Agriculture

Diversity Common Ground

We Cannot Thrive If It’s A Man’s World

To raise awareness of the challenges members of our industry face, we asked Corteva employees and partners questions about their work-life experiences. Common Ground is our platform for sharing the unheard voices of agriculture, and its goal is to ignite action and change from our industry. By leveraging everyone’s talents and unique abilities, we will create a more robust, productive industry.

Read the story:

Has any identifying factor impacted your career? I feel that my gender has had a lot to do with it. I have always felt that my male bosses have a defensive attitude towards me, simply because I am a woman.

Describe the perception of the agricultural industry today. It’s completely macho.

For inclusion, what areas is agriculture lagging in most? Where are you seeing progress? In teams exposed to the end users (commercial and marketing), there has been advances in including women. However, much progress is still needed in having women in management positions and seeing in our industry people who [are] openly LGTBQ+.

How can diversity be better encouraged? Companies should seek distributors, farms, and unions led by women and LGBTQ + people. We cannot continue with the traditional macho model, we must actively participate in the transformation of society.

To be sustainable, we must address the changes that society demands.
