Postemergence Weed Control with Enversa™ Herbicide

They say March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. But what about May? Well, if your customers planted Corteva Agriscience soybean genetics, chances are their seed emerged with strength, vigor and competitive might, much like a lion. But let’s be real, even the best genetics can’t deal with consequences from postemergence weeds. Delaying control too long can cause meaningful yield losses even if weeds are eventually killed, not to mention the extra time and money spent dealing with the issue. A good postemergence herbicide program can go a long way toward ensuring a clean field and higher yield potential.

A new postemergence tool

If your customers are like other farmers across the country, chances are they’re dealing with resistant Palmer amaranth and waterhemp. And if they’ve planted Enlist E3® soybeans, usually a tank-mix of Enlist One® herbicide with glufosinate destroys those weeds and many others. Farmers are also having success with a newer postemergence residual herbicide from Corteva called Enversa™ herbicide. Let’s take a closer look at some of the product’s key features:

  • Active ingredient: Encapsulated acetochlor (Group 15), a proprietary Corteva formulation
  • Application timing: From preplant up to R2 in soybeans
  • Weeds controlled: Broad-spectrum control of over 20 broadleaf and grass weeds, including Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, lambsquarters, henbit, barnyard grass, foxtail, goosegrass and more
  • Residual activity: Up to 4 weeks
  • Activation: Activated with 0.5 inches of moisture; acetochlor microcapsules move quickly from the leaf surface and drive to the soil, providing a residual barrier against weeds that haven’t emerged
  • Tank mixing: Outstanding tank-mix compatibility; preferred residual tank-mix partner of choice with Enlist One herbicide for Enlist E3 soybeans; can also be tank-mixed with glyphosate
  • Crop safety: Encapsulated acetochlor for excellent crop safety
  • Labeled crops: Soybeans, corn, cotton, peanuts, sorghum and sugar beets

Implementing a program approach with Enversa™ herbicide

These days, a program approach to weed control isn’t just about good stewardship, it’s about getting better results and delivering more to the bottom line. When planting Enlist E3® soybeans, farmers should start clean with tillage or burndown with Enlist Duo®, Enlist One® or Elevore® herbicides. After planting, it’s important to apply a preemergence residual herbicide such as Kyber® Pro or Sonic® Boom herbicides. After soybeans emerge, Enversa™ herbicide fits best in a tank-mix with Enlist One herbicide. Here’s a graphical overview with more detail:

By adding a Group 15 residual herbicide to the tank, Enversa provides an additional, powerful mode of action without relying solely on glyphosate or ALS-based chemistries. This helps slow the development of aggressive, resistant weeds like waterhemp and Palmer amaranth. The combination of foliar weed control with Enlist One herbicide plus the long-lasting residual soil barrier from Enversa reduces the need for additional applications, helps cut the risk of yield-robbing late-emerging weeds and supports more consistent, cost-effective weed control year after year.

This season, consider adding Enversa to your postemergence herbicide recommendations. We think your customers will appreciate its level of control and residual, wide application window and overall crop safety. Check out the product label, videos and more on the Enversa product page.
