Rinskor™ offers selectivity, ease of use for vegetation management

cleared utility ROW through wooded area

No matter the use site – utility rights-of-way, pipelines, railroads, roadsides or solar fields – vegetation managers and contractors know that selectivity and reduced risk are both key when it comes to weed control. Too much to ask of one product, you say? Not if that product is powered by Rinskor.

Introduced in 2018 as an active ingredient in Corteva row-crop herbicides, Rinskor has received multiple awards for reduced-risk, a favorable environmental profile, and efficacy against target species. Products with Rinskor offer an exceptional level of weed control at use rates significantly lower than many competitive products. In addition, Rinskor is nonvolatile, can be applied up to water’s edge, and depending on the product and use site, can be applied by ground or air, by spot treatment or high-volume foliar application.

“Flexibility is key to any successful vegetation management strategy,” says Jill Zeller, product marketing lead, Corteva Agriscience. “Rinskor gives products like HighNoon® herbicide the kind of activity and flexibility that can help vegetation management professionals selectively control some of their most troublesome weeds, in a wide range of use sites and with minimal concerns over handling, volatility, or environmental impact.”

Recently labeled for vegetation management usage nationwide, HighNoon herbicide combines Rinskor with aminopyralid to significantly broaden the control spectrum as compared to aminopyralid-only formulations such as Milestone herbicide.

“While Milestone has activity against 80 problem weeds,” Zeller says, “HighNoon offers control of over 140 broadleaf weeds with a high degree of selectivity, giving vegetation managers and contractors a powerful tool against invasive and incompatible weeds, with an exceptional level of safety on native perennial grasses and forbs.”

In addition, HighNoon has no signal word and only minimal personal protective equipment requirements, making it easier for less-experienced applicators and other field personnel to handle.

“For applicators and contractors who do their batching in the field,” says Zeller, “using HighNoon means an easier and faster mixing and batching process compared to products with more restrictive PPE requirements or with higher-level signal words. And because HighNoon is supplied in a liquid formulation, there’s no need to make a slurry before blending; it just helps make for a smoother operation all around.”

Proven postemergence control in VM and ag applications

Since its U.S. launch in 2018, Rinskor has provided the muscle behind some of the most effective agricultural and specialty herbicides in the Corteva portfolio. Rinskor binds to unique receptors in the target species, giving HighNoon and other Rinskor-based products enhanced activity on herbicide-resistant populations and allowing low use rates.

“At the end of the day, utility and roadside vegetation managers need ‘go-to’ products they can depend on to do the job, regardless of the application or the target weed species,” Zeller says. “HighNoon and other products with Rinskor enable that trust through their use-site flexibility, enhanced activity on some of the most problematic weeds, a reduced risk profile and overall ease of use.”

Under normal field conditions, HighNoon® is nonvolatile. HighNoon has no grazing or haying restrictions for any class of livestock, including lactating dairy cows, horses (including lactating mares) and meat animals prior to slaughter. Label precautions apply to forage treated with HighNoon and to manure and urine from animals that have consumed treated forage. HighNoon is not registered for sale or use in all states.
